Race wrap up of round 7 for the NSWSKC

Sunday 16th October saw the Baines Motorsport Team head out to the Nepean Motorsport complex to contest the annual "Nepean Nationals" race meeting .

Due to a club rule requiring each driver to do a volunteer day for the club in order to qualify for the championship only Jake had a race as Wayne did his duty for the club .

The junior field was a very strong 14 karts and the racing on the day was a hot as the spring weather .

Jake was coming off the back of his Australian Title success and the Celebration Day win and was hoping for 3 straight wins , however the racing was tough and all the junior drivers stepped up a gear and put on some of the closest hardest racing seen this season .

In heat 1 jake was gridded of pole , once the green flag dropped he was able to out drag Jordan Binskin into turn 1 and from there drove a great race to hold on and win .

In the reverse grid order heat 2 race Jake was gridded from position 14 and was caught out a little on a dry slick track and only managed to make  his way up to 7th spot at the drop of the chequered flag .

heat 3 is gridded with the highest points from pole position , Jake being 4th on points came out of position 4 and made his way to 3rd after at one stage dropping back to 6th trying to avoid an accident .

So come feature time Jake was now 3rd on points and would start from grid spot 11 , once the race got started Jake made up some spots until a lap 3 accident which saw young Lady racer Ashliegh Jack go upside down after colliding with Amy Shute had the raced stopped under red conditions .

At the restart Jake was in 6th place and looking to move forward , unfortunately the stoppage allowed the track to dry out and passing in the back half of the race was difficult but he still managed to move up to finish 3rd .

Jakes overall finish for the event was 3rd behind Nathan Camilleri in 2nd and Jordan Binskin who won the day .

The next hit out will be on the 6th November at Nepean for the washed out rerun of round 5 the Speedway kart Grand Prix .
